The Inn at Houghton Creek (circa 1994) offers 17 rooms of distinctive, country lodging in the quiet town of Houghton, New York, within walking distance of Houghton College and Houghton Academy. In addition to our rooms, we provide a warm, comfortable lobby with a fireplace where you can relax to read a book or gather together with friends for pleasant conversation. Also, enjoy hot beverages from our coffee bar and feel free to use our oversized roll-top desk/work center. There you'll find a computer to surf the Web or e-mail a friend with our broadband Internet access. Our facility is also a WiFi hotspot with wireless cards available to rent. As a guest of The Inn, you may also visit the college pool or fitness facilities free of charge, as well as take a scenic walk around the college campus. Our History In the spring of 1994, members of By July plans were approved, furnishings were ordered, and construction began on one of the first modular-construction hotels in the country. On August 29, fourteen units arrived in Houghton and were lifted into place. Exactly thirty days later, September 29, we welcomed our first guests, members of the James Irving family from While The Inn continues to be owned by what came to be known as The Houghton Development Group, since day one it has been operated by innkeepers, hired to live in The Inn and who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business.
